Waauuu … we were all totally fascinated by him. Graphic designer, fine artist, photographer, Danish, living in NYC, working at his own design studio in Manhattan for European companies as well as American. We wanted it all!
Yesterday Poul visited us here in Copenhagen at the lovely Mühlbach & Clemmensens Kreative Saloner. A very inspiring evening. Poul is very creative and talented in many ways creating collages, book sleeves, photography, type + calligraphy. Above collage is The Kir Royal Drink (the perfect Christmas drink by the way!) from Poul’s work for the cocktail recipe book Storied Sips.

The evening were mostly about Poul’s work with paper, glue, photos and callagraphy which I found VERY inspiring. I seem to sit a lot in Illustrator or Photoshop almost never “outside” my Mac anymore. Back to basic again with glue, paper and copy makers all over my studio in 2015 – yes please!
The above illustration is Poul’s own label for Beaujolais Nouveau.

Poul often sets up “rules” for making various collages. The above is one of a series of stories he created to give voice to a collection of vintage anonymous photographs. I like the “rules”-idea … a kind of theme which make you not think just create. Funny and unexspected designs occurs that way. Love it. Find all of Poul Lange’s work here and website for his collages here. Enjoy!
